Our commitment to sustainability
Our commitment to sustainability is grounded not only in what we believe, but also in what travelers are increasingly telling us. In our recent research, which surveyed 7,000 travelers across seven markets, 60% said they consider their environmental impact more now than they did 3–5 years ago, and 94% said they would be willing to travel off-peak if it helped reduce crowding and preserve the local environment.

For partners, this signals a clear opportunity: travelers are paying closer attention to sustainability, and they increasingly value information that helps them understand their options. We are strengthening the underlying foundation so that information travelers are seeking is more readily available and trustworthy across the marketplace.
While this work supports our readiness for new requirements such as the EU Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition directive, our ambition goes beyond compliance. We are building a stronger foundation for how sustainability information is sourced, governed, and communicated over time to enable more sustainable journeys and help protect the places that make travel possible.
What we've accomplished
Over the past year, we've made meaningful progress in strengthening the foundation behind sustainability information while also advancing broader sustainable travel work across our business.
This includes:
- Improving how verified certifications are sourced and maintained, supporting more than 100% growth in property inventory with sustainability certifications since 2025
- Expanding the list of certifications we display from 10 to more than 90, surfacing properties with certifications in 239 regions and markets for the first time
- Updating how sustainability-related amenities and claims are displayed across our platforms and product pages, with a stronger emphasis on consistency and maintainability
- Deepening our partnership with Travalyst and industry peers, to create clearer sustainability information across the travel ecosystem
- Driving 200%+ growth in destination partners participating in our climate training, Destination Climate Champions
- And within our operations, achieving a 27% reduction in total greenhouse gas emissions from our 2022 baseline

What this means now
For partners, this work provides a framework for how sustainability related information will be represented across Expedia Group marketplaces so that together we can enhance the way sustainability claims are communicated to travelers.
By improving communication around sustainability certifications, claims and amenities, we'll help travelers find properties that best align with their values and meet their needs.
We're also expanding enablement for our commercial and support teams so they can guide partners with confidence.
What comes next
These accomplishments are an important milestone, not the end of the journey. Sustainability standards, certifications, and traveler expectations will continue to change, and the underlying foundation we're building is designed to evolve.
If you're a partner, talk with your account manager about how you are sharing your property's sustainability certifications, or reach out for more information on how to evaluate and achieve them.
