Whether car rentals are part of your lineup or you’re looking to add them, our cutting-edge API delivers the speed and flexibility you need.
Expedia Group has completed its acquisition of CarTrawler, an Ireland-based B2B travel platform that provides car rental, ground transport and insurtech solutions.
We announced our intention to acquire CarTrawler at Explore 2026 in May. The acquisition brings together CarTrawler’s depth and expertise with Expedia Group’s scale, technology and global B2B partner network. Together, we are moving the company closer to its vision of a one-stop travel marketplace where partners can access the inventory, technology, and intelligence they need to start selling more of the trip.
A new step in building a more complete B2B travel platform
Travel sellers should not have to piece together separate connections for every part of a trip. Our ambition is to make it easier for partners to find the supply, technology, and intelligence they need — and use them together to create better travel products for their customers.
That means bringing together a broad range of travel capabilities, while giving partners the flexibility to access those capabilities in the way that works best for their business, whether they are building a marketplace, powering a loyalty program, enhancing an airline journey, or serving travelers through another platform.
Our acquisition of Tiqets earlier this year strengthened our activities offering. With CarTrawler now part of Expedia Group B2B, we are taking another meaningful step across our car line of business. The opportunity is moving from individual travel products toward a connected marketplace that can help partners build and sell more of the end-to-end journey.
CarTrawler expands our car rental and insurtech capabilities
CarTrawler brings focused expertise across car rental, ground transport, and insurtech. Combined with Expedia Group’s technology, scale, and existing global travel products, this expertise will help us expand the breadth of mobility and protection solutions available to B2B demand partners.
Takeaway
What this means for you
For partners, the value is practical: a more comprehensive supply and technology that can be integrated into existing platforms. Instead of treating the car as an add-on, partners can move toward offering a more complete trip, with mobility and relevant travel protection solutions available alongside lodging, activities, and air.
For travelers, the goal is more choice and better value as they plan and book across the journey.
Building the infrastructure for travel’s next chapter
The acquisition of CarTrawler is more than an expansion of our car capabilities. It is another step toward building a one-stop B2B travel marketplace where partners can access the inventory, technology, and services they need to sell the whole trip through a single connection.
We are grateful to the teams at Expedia Group and CarTrawler who made this deal possible, and to the partners who continue to help shape our vision for B2B travel. We look forward to building what comes next together.
